I’m relatively new to Formula, at least from a fanatical stance anyway. My Dad always liked Formula 1 when I was a child and I used to watch bits and pieces with him, but I used to be part of the misinformed It’s only interesting at the start and finish brigade. I remember watching Nigel Mansell driving for Williams, but for some reason I have no recollection of his two seasons at Ferrari.
This was the year that I, and many other British people, sat up and took notice of Formula 1 properly. This might have something to do with a guy by the name of Lewis Hamilton. It was qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix where my love with Formula 1 really started to take effect. It was the first time I watched qualifying properly and realised that was actually very exciting, often more so than the race itself, though in this case the race was great and Lewis Hamilton performed magnificently.
With my support behind Lewis Hamilton it was only natural that I would be drawn towards McLaren, and I was. It wasn’t just for Lewis Hamilton though, as I started to read up on McLaren and got a real feel for the team and its rich history in Formula 1. Now I am as much a fan of McLaren as I am of Lewis Hamilton and proudly wear my team shirt on race day.
I’ve always enjoyed blogging so it was only a matter of time before I started a blog on Formula 1. Rather than just be a general Formula 1 blog I decided to concentrate on all things McLaren and thus McLaren Fan Blog was born. Life got busy in mid-2009 so the blog was left untouched, but it came back for the last race of the season in Abu Dhabi and is here to stay now, with regular updates on McLaren and its drivers – whoever they may be!
Have Your Say
I’m always interested in what people have to say about my posts and McLaren in general so please dive in and leave comments, however big or small. If you want to write something and have it appear on this blog then that would be great too.
If you have a McLaren or Formula 1 products, books or websites that you’d like me to review then just drop me an email.
